 Hello bloggers. Today in literacy we have started reading and watching a bit of Wonder. Wonder is a book or movie based on the life of a child with a deformed face and is based on a true story. Our task today was to make a google drawing of Auggie meeting kids who will take him on a tour of the school. We had written what they may be thinking and what they may be saying. Sign language is one of the three recognized languages in NZ. The country wants to be able to communicate with everybody in NZ. Today my group has finished our rocket video for inquiry. Here is the video to watch for yourself. 

This was part of the Wonder rocekt experiement. The people that are in my group were. Jordan, Cameron, Damian,  Luke, and Taine,  We had to make a rocket that would be able to fly through the sky and land really far.  We tied with our friends' group at 18 meters.  Our rocket fell apart mid-air but we still did not come last. The item that grows

 Hello bloggers. Today what we have done in literacy is we have been growing crystals. 

The task was in a group the people that were in my group were Brock, Billy, Jordan, and Cameron, We had three crystals that we would grow. The 1st one was the Borax, The second one was the Salt, The third one was the Sugar. The Borax was the fastest one to grow then Salt was coming up and Sugar was taking the longest. The big bad wolf?

Hello bloggers. Today in class we have made a word art of wolves.

In Yellowstone, the wolves are helping to reproduce the environment and bring loads of different animals back. Which is saving it from it being a complete disaster with almost nothing around it. Which is helping the ecosystem to become beautiful again.

In France, the wolves have come back from a close extinction and are eating the livestock which belongs to farmers. And are causing them a problem that might be a bit hard to fix.

I think that wolves are a really good animal because they are helping to reproduce the places they encounter not only That but they are ancient creatures from long ago. I think wolves are a really good animal.

a code has been made

Hello bloggers.  Today in class we have made a code using Codesters.

 

 

The message I would like to give to you is do not litter cause it can cause problems for not only the ocean but other animals as well. I chose this message because animals do not deserve getting hurt or attacked and we are doing this by leaving plastic around for animals to choke on and get hurt bad so we need to stop this. I tried to make this appealing to see animals also trying to avoid plastic entirely it would be harder if we leave more for them to choke on. Some codes that have been programmed are the turtle talking and it moving around to make it avoid plastic. What is the hardest thing you have coded and why? In inquiry, we have made a list of food for a family to survive for the week some members of the family were vegan some had no problems along with other things we had to remember when Feeding the family. Hello bloggers. Today in literacy we did a well know experiment. the coke and mentos experiment.

We have tried this experiment for ourselves. But it was not only coke we used for our experiment. We used other types of fizzy drinks such as L&P lift diet coke diet lemonade. This was a messy experiment and would be good to do in an open space. Have you tried this experiment before? and did you change something within it? The oil that can spill

Hello bloggers. Today in literacy we have made an adobe spark on the impact of oil spills.

Oil is in and around our world, even in places you wouldn’t imagine. We use oil for cooking but we also use crude oil. The pumping and transporting of crude oil around the globe often have environmental effects. We have looked at various texts and videos to learn about some of these effects, and it ‘good’ timing as there was a recent oil spill (24 July 2020) in Mauritius that we could investigate. NASA the fast parachute

What we have done was we have made a parachute and had to do a test to see which parachute falls to the ground the slowest.

 The parachute was not the best parachute and here is a way we can make it better. we could make the parachute cloth out of card and make it a circle and it would also need to hold two hex nuts but doing that would help make it float the slowest the most. Our task for today we had to do a screencastify on ice cubes and see what cube was the fastest to melt. The experiment was a bit interesting at one point we had different liquids to see what melts the fastest but we are going to stick with freshwater and saltwater in this video. The lights in the sky

Hello, bloggers. Have you ever wanted to go to the artic to see the northern lights? Well then if you do we should start with some facts about the northern and southern lights.

Starting with how it is made the sun flicks a bit of itself with the earth in its path of it the earth's magnetic field stips these but some make it through creating these outstanding lights.  The next fact is the northern and southern lights can be many different colors such as blue green purple. Another fact is that it was named after the Roman god Aurora Borealis. And those conclude our questions for today. Math gave us algebra

Hello bloggers. Today in maths me and Billy have been doing algebra.

Our task for Maths was to create our own pattern using algebra. Our pattern was x2 + 1 and it works for the pattern.  It goes from 1 to 5 then it jumps forward a bit and goes to 10 to 14 then 20. The book of the bug

When reading a book, have you ever been curious about something you were reading, and wanted to find out more to help you understand what you were reading better?  We have been learning about how important this is this week in Literacy.

When we read The Magic School Bus inside the human body’ I formed some advanced questions using ‘how’ and ‘why’.  I made sure they were open-ended questions that would help me understand the book more.  An example of one of my questions was “Why are intestines coiled up?’ and I then researched and found out that an adult's intestine is 7.5m long, so it needs to coil up so that it fits in the body.

Next, we got to choose our own book to read out of our virtual library and we had to form 3 advanced questions about it.  Our create task this week was to share these in a creative way.  I chose to do it with Adobe spark and it was about a book called ‘Cicadas’

I really enjoyed this task as it made me realise how important it is to do this when reading to understand the text better.

Matariki the movie

             

Hello bloggers. This Friday me, Billy and Jordan have had to show a way to teach Matariki.  

 Me, Billy and Jordan have done an animation and used Screencastify to voice over it. There were many different options for us to do including sock puppets an animation and a poem but all of them had to be voiced over. This animation takes place in a campground called camp Matariki. With some teachers looking through a telescope with the teachers telling you about Matariki. What do you like about this post? And why? The beaded binary

Hello bloggers. After tech, we had to make our initials into a bracelet or a key chain using binary.

We had to make our first name and last name letters into ASCII. Which we then chose what colored beads and choose what colors the ones would be and the zeros. I have done my K for my first name and a P for my last name. I found it really confusing and would have needed help but I managed. Do you what your initials are in binary? That lemonade feel

Hello bloggers. Today our afternoon task was simple we had to finish the Siapo art that we have done. It had to be a simple design and after we got it checked and it was a pass we had to fold a piece of paper and copy it both ways all around by tracing it and after that, we had to colour it in pastels. And after that, we dye it only one colour well there was only one colour. It reminds me of pink lemonade in a way bits you may see as white are actually pink if you are wondering. what do you like about my post and why? hello bloggers. My name is Kadyn well you know that. What I have made today is a top hat as it was one of our tasks. I made it using a plastic cup (which we use for jelly) and put black duct tape around it and put sparkle stickers spelling out K and P on as they were my initials but the P kept falling off so I just left K on. My cake baking

Hello Bloggers. The task today was to simply just bake a cake for our home learning. The type of cake we made is banana cake. It is our home learning cause of the virus that is going around so we have to stay at home with our Teachers setting the class some tasks. Do not be shocked but I do not really eat cake. The Worlds Worst Children: Spoiled Brad

Hello Bloggers. This is my drawing of The Worlds Worst Children. Plus I had to listen to a part of the book. The main character is Brad a spoiled child who demands lots of stuff. On this occasion its Brads birthday. I think you know where this is going he wanted lots of presents and of course the boy loves cake. so he demands to have a big cake for his birthday. but got annoyed that he has to wait one year for it again so he demands to have his birthday everyday. and demands more presents bigger cakes and that is not how greedy he can be. Eventually he got a cake the size of a swimming pool and climbed his tower of presents and dove into the cake. But he relisted he was sinking and wanted some help but no one came so he got eaten by the cake never too be seen again.
