Learning a Language

 Hello! Today we have done a task that involves our learning and teaching French. We had two ways to share this piece of learning. Learning the words

 Hello bloggers. Today we had to make an animation teaching people about Maori words. We had 12 in total. I made it so that some of the events would tie with the next word that would be taught. We made this for Maori language week which is currently this week! And people all over the country are celebrating it. What Maori words do you know?  Hello bloggers. With lockdown happening again we are back at distance learning and I have made a blog post about what we have done on the first day. I have made a quick write about gifts. An origin story of NZ

 Hello, bloggers today in class we have made an animation retelling a story about how New Zealand came to be. The story is about Kupe a Maori for Hawaii who traveled across the sea hunting down a giant octopus. What do you like New Zealand for? Minecraft Catchment areas

 Hello bloggers. Today in class we have been making a catchment are inside of Minecraft. A catchment area is water that comes down from the mountains because it could have snow coming down or it has rained. It falls into a river which then takes it down into the ocean. Precipitation is when hail water and snow begin to fall from the sky. Condensation What this is is that it means that water vapour in the air cools down. Evaporation is when the suns heat comes down on water and soils begin to rise in the air turning into a gas. Collection is when water that comes from the sky fall through the ground and into an underground cave. The river that I have used as the catchment area is the Waimak River. I picked the Waimak because it is connected to the clouds and leads out to the ocean. 

Majestic Matariki kites

Today in class we have been making Matariki kites. We made these kites out of paper, Pastels, and watercolors. Once we had finished our kite we would give it to the teacher and they would cut it out for us. We read two books of two different tales about how Matariki happens. The tales were about 7 sisters who made kites but the wind was not strong enough until early morning it blew the kites up into the sky which became Matariki. The other story was about 2 gods leaving each and the son got mad so he ripped his eyes out there into the sky. What is your favorite story for Matariki? Today in maths we have been challenged to make a 3D shape. The shape me and my buddy have chosen is a cube. The cube had to be 240cm3 and there are many ways we could have done this.  Hello bloggers. Today in class we have made art which shows Matariki. We had to do the Matariki stars backwards and add hills and mountains. Sense it

 Hello bloggers. Today in class we have done an experiment. We were in pairs and blindfolded the other person and used a metal thing to poke them in certain places. It had two points and once we poked the person who was blindfolded they would say that they felt 2 points or 1. I mostly felt one point. What are your hobbies? The egg drop

Hello bloggers. Today in class we have done a little bit of an experiment using an egg. The idea is that you need to be in a group of 5 and using the materials given build a package for the egg so it can be dropped off Skyhigh. The idea is that you need to egg to survive the fall with no cracks. What would you have done for your design?  Hello bloggers. Today in inquiry we have made been looking at music and how it evolved through the ages. There were many different timelines and we picked from a hat the 2000s era of music. So me Cameron and Billy were working on this slide and picked 4 songs from the 2000s and wrote facts on 2 of them. What's your favorite 2000s song? Hello, again bloggers. Woohoo, the first post of term 2, and it's about Matariki. Matariki is known as a mother with her six daughters. A holocaust website

 Hello bloggers. Today we have made a website on the holocaust. What's the holocaust? The holocaust is one the worst events in history when Adolf Hitler went on a genocide exterminating and killing European Jews.

One of the books we read for this topic was "Once" A book based on the events of WWII and the holocaust. The book is around Felix a Jewish boy who is stuck in an orphanage by his parents. He eventually breaks out of this orphanage and tries to find his parents but learns the truth about whats Hilter is doing.

What Hitler would do during the holocaust was take Jewish people and put them in camps. But these were no ordinary camps these were concentration camps in which Hitler would put Jews in and make life harder. Until he wanted to kill off a big bunch of people he made extermination camps. Hitler executed millions of Jewish people during these times.

After reading the book and learning more we were asked to make some questions about Once and the holocaust and answer them. One of my questions was "When did the holocaust start" The answers to these questions and a few more are on my website.

I made a few connections between two questions which were "How could Jewish people be identified" and How many Jews did the Nazis execute" These questions have a connection between how much Hitler hated Jewish people and how they were treated differently from others.
